I own a lot (I mean, a LOT) of black clothing. As a busy mom, I find it so versatile and easy to grab and go when I’m hustling to get ready for dinner or an evening out — and Valentine’s Day is no exception. While red or pink are often the expected color choices for the holiday, I opted for black on black for our early Valentine’s Day date night last weekend. And I got to show off a little sparkle too with this beautiful beaded A. Tak Crafts necklace — y’all, isn’t it just so pretty?!

Valentine’s Day is next week and while it’s usually a holiday that comes and goes without a ton of emphasis in our home (well, besides flowers… mama needs her flowers), this year we decided to do something different and special as a family — a Valentine’s picnic in the park! We packed up our new PackIt coolers and had so much fun being together outside, laughing and lounging around. Morgan was all about the sweets we set out and had a mouthful of sprinkles and icing pretty much the entire time. Can you blame him?! It was the most perfect reminder of what this holiday is all about: sharing your heart with those you love.
It’s now been two weeks since the hubs and I jet setted into the snow-covered concrete jungle for a weekend Valentine’s getaway — take me back! We go to New York about once a year to visit family and such but until now, we’d never been in the winter together — and it was so. much. fun. (Fair warning before you read on: This is a lengthy post and I was terrible about taking photos on our trip, but there are a few to share!)
