Anyone else in complete awe that we’re well into the holidays and just a couple weeks away from 2018? I say it at the close of every year but really, where did 2017 go? So much happened over the last 12 months — some good, some bad, some happy, some sad… And though it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018, I’m ready.
When Dr. P and I got married, we started sending holiday cards every year. I love snail mail so much but the truth is, I suck at sending birthday cards and letters… it’s something I desperately want to do but I just can’t ever seem to get my act together on it. The funny thing is, I actually have a stockpile of cute cards; I just never remember to drop them in the mail in time! But if there’s one time of year when I can get my butt in gear and send pretty, personal gifts and heartfelt snail mail, it’s the holidays.
Yesterday I ordered my son’s first birthday invitations and sobbed like a schoolgirl. I know it’s cliche but I don’t care — WHERE DID THE TIME GO? This time last year I had a big ole’ bun in the oven. Little did I know then just how quickly 2016 would come and go. What a whirlwind of a year. And now we celebrate a whole new kind of holiday. One that doesn’t involve much glitz or sparkle, a night out on the town or fireworks or fancy dinner. This year, our holiday will be at home.
