I’ve talked about the evolution of my style over the years and one of the elements that continues to grow in my closet is color. For years, my closet was overwhelmingly filled with black clothes. And while I still love an all-black ensemble, I have learned to express myself in happy, bright and beautiful shades that bring out my personality. So when the seasons warm and there’s a lot of time spent in the sunshine, I find myself yearning for more color. And bright tassels are everywhere this spring — a hot trend I absolutely LOVE! So today I’m sharing this fun tiered tank plus 12 of my favorite fiesta-inspired tassel tops for Cinco de Mayo!
It’s now been nearly five months since I began my journey to push happiness to the top of the list. And upon diving in, I promised myself I’d check in periodically throughout the year to hold myself accountable. So here it goes… Let’s be real, real honest here. At the beginning, I hit the ground running. I was completing one list every week. Success! Then about a month in, I started to struggle with making time for the weekly journal entries and fell behind quickly. I’d then find myself feeling guilty about falling behind, sit down and catch up all in one fell swoop. But then I realized that defeats the purpose of the prompts entirely. After all, the cover clearly states that this is a book of “weekly journaling inspiration for positivity, balance and joy.” So if I’m getting bogged down and hurrying to catch up, I’m not really finding the positive, happy balance, am I?
I’m a city girl. Having grown up in Houston and then living centrally in both West University and Montrose after college, I thrive in a bustling environment with all of my favorite things at my fingertips but still plenty of space to call my own, walk the dog and go for a drive. So when we started house hunting around town, the Heights immediately seemed like the most natural fit. A charming, dynamic and constantly evolving neighborhood with a range of traditional, Victorian-style and bungalow homes, new townhomes, walking and biking trails, trendy restaurants, dive bars, cute boutiques, city parks, and proximity to the Galleria, Downtown Houston, Upper Kirby, Washington Heights and Montrose (not to mention easy access to nearly all highways), the Heights combines a cool, young vibe with rich historic character and is the epitome of what makes Houston so magical.
