Forget winter, spring, summer or fall… rodeo season is my favorite of all! Born and raised in Houston, I look forward to rodeo time every year. While I’m not a cowgirl and didn’t grow up with horses or a ranch or anything of the like, I learned the importance of Go Texan Day and a good old-fashioned square dance from a young age. This past weekend was the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s World Championship BBQ Contest, which kicks off rodeo season in Houston. With more BBQ, beer and booze than you can imagine, it was a great excuse to celebrate in true southern style. We had a blast!
We’ll enjoy even more BBQ, carnival fun and live concerts over the next several weeks, and this will also be the first time Morgan goes to the rodeo! I just can’t wait to see his face light up. He’s going to love the petting zoo! We’ve been practicing our animal sounds, so it’ll be so fun to watch him pet and hear all the animals in real life. We have some concerts in our plans too, which means parents’ night out! And I’ll get to style these suede Vince Camuto sandals I snagged on major sale! I love how the braided detailing adds a bit of western flair — a great alternative to the cowboy boots I usually wear.
I’m just obsessed with these shoes, you guys! Here’s the thing — I love flats. I usually wear flats or a cute flat sandal all day every day, and save my wedges and heels for weekends, date nights or other special occasions. (Does that make me sound like an old lady?!) But even with the heel on these, they are actually super easy to wear and walk in, probably because of the ankle strap. Honestly, I could wear these all night long!
I also tend to wear a lot of white during the spring and summer months, and this lightweight tank is perfect for the hot Houston weather. I rarely carry a diaper bag anymore (hallelujah!) so this Sole Society crossbody has been a great option for me to store all of my mama things while also being an easy, cute crossbody. I bought it a couple months back and have already worn it so much! You can shop these details, other similar tops, beaded turquoise accessories and cute sunnies below. Happy rodeo season, y’all!
