I know, I didn’t really give you guys a heads up on this one… Surprise! Welcome to L. Rose, my new little home on the web dedicated to all things beautiful, messy, fun and real. Not much has changed (really) besides the URL, name and branding of the site along with a few odds and ends here and there. You’ll still find all of the things that bring me joy including my love for home decor, beauty, style, food and family. I guess you could say it was time for me to just put on my big girl pants and move forward. But first, let me explain.
I started Ruthie & Rose back in 2013 with my dear friend Jessica, to whom I owe a great deal of gratitude for not only being my blog partner for several years but for being a wonderful friend, inspiring creative and true gem of a person. We parted ways a couple months back and while bittersweet, it has been for the best for both of us. And so, Ruthie & Rose was no longer two people. Though we poured our heart and soul into our beloved blog name and tagline (believe me, we spent hours and hours trying to come up with it!), it felt like time to say goodbye.
And so here I am, rebranding (again) and this time, it feels really, well, real and right. L. Rose seemed like a very natural title for the blog, and here’s why. Ever since I was a little girl, my dad has always called me L. Rose. He starts his phone calls, voicemails and emails to me that way, and this has resonated throughout other relationships in my life, too, namely my closest friends and husband. Some call me Laur, others Laurie Rose. And though I’m married and my middle name has now become my maiden name, those who know me best haven’t dropped the Rose — and either have I. So here I am starting anew, taking the helm and steering the ship. L. Rose holds a very special place in my heart and I hope will hold a special place in yours too.
The blog’s content will be the same in many regards, but I have an opportunity to really make it my own. Truth be told, you likely won’t find many (okay, probably any) DIY projects from this point forward. And if you go to ruthieandrose.com, you’ll be automatically rerouted to this new site. But let’s try to break that habit soon, k?
My social media handles have changed slightly and you can find everything neatly linked for you with the cutest little icons on the top left hand side of the site.
There are many people who have helped with this relaunch and since I rarely call people out, now’s my big chance. So, special thanks to my dear friends Jamie, Melanie and Jessica P. for their creative juices. To Jessica H. for our late night calls and her graphic expertise. To Liz for her amazing talents and knowledge of web development and IT. And most importantly, to my husband Dr. P who puts up with my countless ideas and questions all while running out to the store late at night because I was too busy getting the new site up and forgot to buy more milk. I love you, honey.
I’ve changed a lot since this little blog began back in 2013. Sure I’m now married, living in another city, became a mom and traded in my marketing career to be a SAHM. I’ve evolved creatively, spiritually, professionally. My interests have grown and changed. I’ve learned so much about myself and others. I’ve met a community of inspiring, strong bloggers and creatives who have taught me so much in so little time. I’ve listened to my head, my gut and my heart and followed all of them in one way or another, even when it hasn’t been easy.
I have a lot of goals and dreams and exciting plans for L. Rose in the coming year — and with this official launch, some are already starting to come to fruition. I’ll be the first to admit that I still have so much to learn. But I promise you this: I’m entirely up to the challenge. And I sincerely hope you’ll join me on the journey.
Thanks for being here. Thanks for reading. Welcome to L. Rose!
