DIY: Baby Birthday Pennant

Last weekend, we celebrate E’s first birthday. To go along with it, I made a cute and festive, decorative pennant to celebrate his first year. It’s simple and fun, but most importantly, it took less than 15 minutes to make! I didn’t get fancy with my Cricut machine, but instead opted for a hand-made look which allowed for quick assembly.

I scoured my collection of scrapbook papers and picked out some bright, cheery colors and contrasting patterns to match.

Trim the papers to desired width, stack them together and cut an inverted triangle about 8 inches down from the top. You can vary the length of the pennants as needed.

After drawing bubble letters on the contrasting colored paper, I simply hand-cut the letters. I recommend using double-sided tape or photo stickers to secure to the pennants. Space the pennants apart to their approximate location.

Select a wide ribbon (1-inch or 1.5-inch will do) and measure the appropriate length you think you will need while leaving approximately 6-8 inches on each end. This allows you plenty of room for hanging/securing the pennant. Again, I used photo stickers to secure the ribbon in place.

That’s it! Hang your pennant on the highchair or near your entry for a simply cute and personalized touch. Even better, have the guests sign or write a little note on the pennants to your little one. Then you’ll have one special keepsake to remember your baby’s first birthday.
