Homeward Bound

A few weeks ago, I shared some exciting new beginnings. And now, a big announcement. After living in San Antonio for several years, my husband and I are homeward bound! We’re packing up and moving back to Houston for a great job opportunity and we’re beyond thrilled. Of course, there are parts of me that are sad that this chapter of our life is nearing its end but it feels refreshing and exciting to look forward to such a brand new life together in the city that we call home. With both of our families in Houston and many of our closest friends there too, it is where our hearts belong.

I’ve been beyond blessed to spend the past few years in San Antonio with my best friend. It was challenging at first, moving to a new city with next to no friends, family and familiarities. But that soon changed. We spent a year of our engaged years here, celebrated our first and second years of marriage here, started and finished school here. It gave us a chance to really focus on each other, our marriage, our careers and ourselves. I’ve been able to grow my career in ways I never thought imaginable… and I met Jessica here. We started Ruthie & Rose here. It’s certainly bittersweet to say goodbye.

It seems like everything is happening pretty quickly too. The offer came in, we shared the news with family and friends, and now we have just a few weeks to pack, find a place to live and move. I keep reminding myself that people do this all the time — it will all work out. He’ll start a new job, I’ll begin working from home (another transition within itself) and for the first time, we’ll be living together in the city that we love so dearly.

I’m looking forward to reconnecting with the blogger community, trying out new restaurants, being back in the city as a “grown-up” and being able to drive down the street to visit family and friends at the spur of the moment. Our hearts are happy to be back in our beautiful city and we’re giddy with anticipation and excitement for what’s to come. It’s funny because it seems like we’re at the end and the beginning at the very same moment in time. So much on the horizon. So much to celebrate… SO MUCH TO PACK.

Have a great weekend, loves!
