Happy R&R Anniversary!

How do you perfectly capture one full year? A year of blogging through this important and precious time in our lives. We have been busy growing our families, careers and friendships. To say that we have gotten through this past year and have now surpassed a milestone feels like an understatement. In 365 days, we planned our first blogger meet-up in San Marcos, photographed our first style shoot in Austin (part one and two), and met with other like-minded, hilarious, spunky, sweet women at another blogger get-together in Waco.

Similar to the age-old phrase “your first year of marriage is the hardest,” we too have had some growing pains; but it has all been worth it. As a blogger duo, people often ask how we manage R&R… How do you make it work? Who posts each day? Do you outline your calendar? Who handles your social media? The list goes on. And the truth is, we’re still learning. Some of the strategies behind R&R are more-or-less in a rhythm. We recognize each others strengths and play off of those to make this the best space for us and our readers. Jessica is the graphic designer — Laurie is graphically challenged. Laurie has a passion for all things social media at all hours of the day — Jessica is swamped with two little boys 24/7. We’d be lying if we said it was easy. But truth be told, it’s gotten tremendously easier over this short amount of time.

We have worked hard to find our voice, to stand in our own passions and interests, and to have a place to call our own. We have high hopes and big dreams for our little space. With the opening of our shoppe right around the corner (yes, that’s right… squeeee!!), we know there is much more hard work, risk, strategy and success to come. And that within itself is worth every late night, extra shot of espresso and dollar spent on this sweet and sassy space.

In this past year, we have met so many wonderful people and made amazing new friends through blogger meet-ups, sponsorships, guest blogging and brand collaborations. From having some sweet ladies share our space (including Channing and Michelle) to featuring giveaways, reviews and brand partnerships with the likes of Colleen Rothschild Beauty, Tiny Prints, Cuteheads and more, we hope you’ve found your own little R&R here on Ruthie & Rose.

We can’t say enough how truly thankful we are for the relationships we have created and nurtured — and that includes most importantly, all of our readers. Without an audience, our voice is simply lost in space. Thank you for trusting in our voice and giving us a reason to keep writing and sharing what we love most.

And last but certainly not least, we owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to our families and husbands. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to dedicate the time and energy it takes to run R&R. We also owe a great deal of thanks to each other. For being confident in our abilities, for always having each others back, for guiding the way when the other person may struggle, for putting things in perspective, for being willing to take risks to reap the reward, for being trusting and kind, loyal and loving, understanding and patient. For believing in ourselves because after all… sometimes, it just takes two.

Cheers to one year and many more to come!
