Spring Cleaning + Printable Check List

spring

As most of you know, I’m a huge BH&G fan, so when I got their March issue in the mail last week, I knew I was in for some “me” time.

Little did I know, that issue caused a spring fever in me and after perusing only about one-third of the glossy pages, I found myself ultimately inspired to get a jump-start on cleaning my home from top to bottom.

So, I just had to share a few tips that have revolutionized the way I clean my home. And trust me, I like to keep things simple. These aren’t tips that require measuring or remembering complicated instructions – like how to create your own {insert complicated homemade cleaning solution here}. These tips are purely practical and useful solutions that will make your home a happy home.

1. Ceiling fans – Slip an old pillowcase over the blades to wipe and catch the dust without making a mess.

2. Blinds – Put an old sock on one hand and spritz with warm soapy water. Grip the blind panel and wipe from left to right to get rid of dust on both sides.

3. Microwave – (Note: Here’s the only make-your-own cleaning solution) Mix 1 Tbsp. distilled vinegar and 1/2 cup of water in a bowl. Microwave on high for two minutes (or until boiling) and let it sit for another five. The steam loosens any dried on spatters so you can easily wipe clean.

4. Curtains – If you don’t want to take down the curtains all together, shake them loose of dust and then vacuum from top to bottom using an upholstery attachment.

5. Light fixtures – Run glass fixtures through the dishwasher and then run the drying cycle to reduce water spots.

As a little extra – here’s a printable Spring Cleaning Check List. There are thousands out there on Pinterest and other sources, but this one keeps to the basics.

Hope you find these tips as easy and simple to accomplish as I did – Happy Spring cleaning!
