Wine & Cheese Pairings

One of my most favorite and simplest dates nights with my hubby is a quiet evening after the boys are asleep and sit on our back deck (when the weather is nice) and we enjoy a nicely portioned glass of wine (we love a good Cab) and some thick slices of rich cheese to pair with it.

I’ve always been curious about which wine goes best with what type of cheese and have found there are many resources out there. So far though, the simplest and easiest explained resources is The Wine Bar.

From wine by styles to cocktails, recipes and snack pairings, this site is fully comprehensive yet so elegantly simple. I was able to easily navigate and find some perfect pairings.

goat-cheese

Goat cheese, a soft white cheese, complements Chardonnay or Pino Grigio.

parmesan

Parmigiano Reggiano, a hard Italian cheese, is delightful with Perfect when paired with: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chianti, Merlot or Prosecco.

Brie is so creamy and rich it needs something lighter like a Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc or a Sparkling Wine.

I always look forward to the simplicity of wine, cheese and good conversation. Stop by your local market and find your perfect pair to enjoy tonight!
