My maternity leave is all too quickly coming to an end and during my precious time home with my little man, I came across some very fun and trendy new things. One of them being this ingenious book called “The Design Cookbook: Recipes for a Stylish Home.” This book, or cookbook rather, is written by a quirky and stylish gal named Kelly Edwards.
Reasons to love her: Cohost of Design on a Dime, as a designer and lifestyle expert, Kelly illustrates how to achieve the best color, texture, proportion, and overall design aesthetic and passes along decorating tips from amazing designers and tastemakers in this guidebook.
Reasons to love her cookbook: This unique mix of design “recipes” shows off stunning full color photos of each design and offers step-by-step intructions on how to achieve a similar look. Each chapter focuses on a different room – from the kitchen to the bedroom – each space is given a do-it-yourself “recipe” to achieve that same look.
Here’s a sample page for a formal dining room – isn’t it just gorgeous? I’m such a visual person, so photos really help me to see the overall design. However, I absolutely live by lists – so if Kelly can tell me exactly what I need, line by line, to get that look – then I’m all over it!
Dive in to this great resource for fabulous home design and tell us which “recipe” looks the most delicious!
