Design on a Dime

If you’re on the hunt for the next best home décor treasure, look no further than a few local stores that may contain all the deals and steals you’ve been dreaming of!

I love to get the biggest bang for my buck but I also want to know that what I’m paying for is good quality too. If I bring an item into my home, I want it to be unique, versatile and to know it will hold up to the everyday wear and tear of a family of four. These are just a few criteria on my list when it comes to home design and décor. I have found some amazing steals at three local shops that may just be around your corner.

1. HomeGoods – Be HomeGoods happy. Think of this store as the TJMaxx of home décor and furnishings. You can find lamps (including the matching shade) for under $30! I mainly shop here for accessory items. Some of my most recent purchases were throw pillows ($16), nursery décor ($15-$25) and a gel mat ($12) for my kitchen.

2. Kirkland’s – Eclectic Elegance. From vanities to leather-tufted headboards, this store has it all! You can get a little lost wandering through this store imagining where you would use all the rich tones and textures in your own home. This store has great prices on wall art ($60), mirrors ($40) and curtains ($30 for two panels). My most recent purchase was a vintage treated teal sofa table that I used in my entry way ($90).

3. World Market – Unique, authentic and always affordable. The store’s tagline alone draws me in! This funky version of Bed, Bath & Beyond will enrapture you from the moment you walk through the doors. Fill your cabinets with their open stock selection of dining and kitchenware or browse their pantry of international and seasonal foods. The best part – pick up a bottle of wine on the way out to go with your new stemware. And yes, their tagline still remains true – it is affordable! Keep an eye out for coupons in your local mailer and Sunday paper for even more deals.

Speaking of coupons – if you love these stores, like me and want to know the latest deals and trends, you can always sign up for their email alerts. It may fill up your inbox quicker, but at the very least you won’t miss out on any great sales. After all, the hunt for the bargain is half the fun!
