There are few things I love more than the meatball. Whether Italian style with lots of onions and peppers, Asian-inspired with delicious soy glazes, infused with Mediterranean flavors or simply sitting in a big bowl of spaghetti, the beloved meatball is one of my absolute faves. My go-to meatball recipe (I use this term loosely) is so incredibly simple that it can be used many different ways.
There are just three ingredients to this recipe:
- Frozen meatballs (I usually opt for turkey but you could use beef, buffalo or a mixed-meat meatball.)
- Two jars of Heinz chili sauce
- One large jar of grape jelly
And if you’re feeling extra crazy, add one more ingredient–a can of tomato sauce or paste, depending on what you have in your pantry.
Combine all of the ingredients into your crockpot before you head off to work in the morning, setting it on low. When you come home, your kitchen will smell like you’ve been slaving away in the kitchen for hours. And for those quick, last-minute meals after a busy day, throw everything into the crockpot on high for three hours or simply toss it all in a pot on the stove for about an hour or two. Your family, friends and belly will thank you, I promise.
These meatballs make for the perfect dinner party appetizer too! Just stick some toothpicks in the meatballs and set them on a pretty platter. You’re sure to leave all of your guests fooled and full.
