Maple Bacon Cupcakes

In our home, bacon is a food group. You can pretty much bet that at least once a weekend, I will wake up to the hubs frying up some peppery bacon. There’s just something about waking up to bacon that makes me super happy (and hungry). So when I came across this recipe, I knew I had to try my hand at a tasty bacon dessert. Let me warn you now… you really can’t just eat one. These are dynamite delicious. I followed the recipe and instructions closely and they turned out perfectly. The best part? They double as breakfast. Happy bacon baking!


Cupcake Ingredients:
* 4 1/2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
* 1/2 tablespoon bacon drippings (left in the fridge to become solid)
* 1 egg
* 5 tablespoons brown sugar
* 4 tablespoons maple syrup
* 1 1/4 cups self rising flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
* Tiny pinch kosher salt
* 1/4 cup milk
* 1/4 cup of minced bacon, cooked and drained

Frosting Ingredients:
* 4 tablespoons of butter
* 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
* 1 cup of powdered sugar
* Turbinado sugar
* Coarse grain sea salt
