Over the last couple of years, I’ve referenced the creative community that I so dearly cherish and adore. And for me, it all started with Thrive. Upon attending the first conference in 2015, I met so many incredibly talented bloggers and creatives from all different paths — some super experienced and others novices like me. I left the weekend feeling confident, encouraged and motivated to put everything I learned at the conference into action. Fast forward and we’re now just a few weeks away from the third annual Thrive conference, Feb. 24-26. Cue the music! The speakers and schedule look absolutely incredible this year and the conference will take place at the beautiful Westin at The Woodlands. And get this, the hotel has gifted a one-night stay and dinner for two at Current to give to one lucky winner!
I know, I didn’t really give you guys a heads up on this one… Surprise! Welcome to L. Rose, my new little home on the web dedicated to all things beautiful, messy, fun and real. Not much has changed (really) besides the URL, name and branding of the site along with a few odds and ends here and there. You’ll still find all of the things that bring me joy including my love for home decor, beauty, style, food and family. I guess you could say it was time for me to just put on my big girl pants and move forward. But first, let me explain.
We’re wrapping up week two of our paleo diet and I can already feel the difference of eating clean. While I’m not doing Whole 30, I’ve cut out all carbs, dairy and sugar — so I guess it’s not really that far off. I had to get over the initial slump of feeling lousy, wanting to eat everything in sight and desperately missing my Diet Coke. But now my diet is getting into a rhythm and I can already notice a change in my appetite and cravings. And I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much I like almond milk this go around! Who knew? Of course, meal planning is key, and when researching dinners, I came across several variations of paleo chicken tortilla soup. So I took my own spin on the dish — and it turned out really delicious and filling (and husband approved).
